(I missed at least one strength potion, and never found plate better than +0.) I did use a stylus and got Affection, which was helpful through the first few levels, but petered off as the wands became less and less damaging, and got _very_ dangerous when I made the mistake of playing in the Dwarven levels at night - 3 monks and a senior monk meant that I was always charmed, but 2-3 of them generally weren't. Early game was made easier by +3 scale from the ghost - which was actually the armor I used, without further enchantment, the whole way through. Got win #3 - another mage (still need to win as Warrior and Rogue). Other times, I've found a rose with no ghost on the level. half the time, I never find the rose, even after burning through two food rations.

Even when I constantly attack on the retreat, it seems like a good 1/3 of the time, I still die. It seems like, if you get caught in his stench, you're dead, period. I upgraded Plate Armor of anti-entropy +4 three times, and never lost the goddamn enchantment. it's such a bad addition to the game, as it currently sits.Īlso, it seems that the chance of losing the glyph when upgrading armor is far lower than it is for losing the enchantment on weapons. I've gotten to the point where I'm just not going to use the stylus anymore. I haven't seen them all yet (I've never gotten potential), so maybe there are still some good ones out there, but 80% bad glyphs on the ones I've seen is not good. The only useful one I've found so far, as a warrior, is the metabolism. Either the harm outweighs the benefit (multiplicity, anti-entropy), or its usefulness is extremely limited based on class (bounce, affection). There are just too many downsides to many of the glyphs. I think that the glyph system is hopelessly fucked. Random musings about some of the updates.
